Elua - The Hawaiian Ambassadors

Just to change things up, instead of giving a day by day playback of the four days returning to the mainland I have decided to give subject oriented posts.  The first of these is concerning the fantastic duo known as Elua.
Elua is a Husband and Wife team of talented musicians, dancers and singers.  They call themselves the Hawaiian Ambassadors of Golden Princess but their real names are

Leialoha
and Dave.

They entertained us in the Piazza and on the pool decks with live hawaiian music and dance but they also, daily, gave Ukalele and Hula dance lessons.

While I have some 3D photos of them in action, I was fortunate enough to receive their permission to video one of their song performances and it is posted at the end of this post.

I hope you enjoy this and it gives you some idea of what is in store for you when you sail to Hawaii on Golden Princess.  It is my understanding Elua has signed a contract for another winter season with Golden Princess and Princess is the lucky winner in that agreement and all the passengers will the be the true winners.

Next post is my favorite:  The Composition of a ShowGirl Photo.

Questions or comments always welcome.

Day 3 at Sea

Well it is our third straight day at sea and FINALLY we are getting some movement on the ship due to wave action.  We are told the seas are 12 - 14 foot swells but we are hitting them directly so we are going up and down but no side to side movement.  After talking with some of the crew I have come to know, they tell me that they would rate the movement of the ship to be about a 7 out of 10 on the uncomfortable scale.

What was really interesting to view was the different swimming pools on the upper decks.  The pool in the middle of the ship splashed wildly with water slashing at one end and then the other.  But...  If you went to one of the pools located at either end of the ship (aft pool or  Lotus pool) there were hardly any waves at all.  It was almost like there was a wave machine attached to the middle pools.  Very much fun to watch.

My wife felt a little on the uncomfortable side all day today, this even with ginger pills and the patch.  I, however, was having too much fun to find time to be sick.

Here are some of the photos and I even have a video in 3D to really give you a feel for the movement.  Be sure to have you speakers turned on as you don't want to miss the sound of the ocean, the wind and the nice music I added just for your listening pleasure.

Now, here are some of the photos I took.

Next post, the evening entertainment of Day 3 at sea, and someone special joins us for dinner.

The Fountains of Bellagio

The Fountains at Bellagio is a vast visual water symphony choreographed to light and music. It has almost become where the words Bellagio and Fountains must go together.

Every evening, the Bellagio fountain show takes place in front of the Bellagio Hotel. This water and music show plays again and again in the spectacular fountains filling the quarter-mile-long lake in front of the Bellagio and is visible from numerous vantage points on the Strip, both from the street and neighboring structures.

The first two videos are of the same video, the first is 3D Anaglyph (red/blue glasses) and the second is 3D Cross Eye format.

The following  Video is 2D and shot at street level.

The next Video whas shot from the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Casino.

Centerville Toronto - Part 1

So off we got dragged (kikking and screaming) to Center Island in Toronto where they have Centerville.

This is a little amusment park for the little kids.  It was a great day.

Cross your eyes for the video below and you will get the 3D effect for this as well.

More fun to come.  This much entertainment deserves more than just one post.

Corkery Road

Last evening, while my wife attended a meeting in Almonte, I went on a photo road trip.  I ended up in a "local establishment" where I met this Celtic Music Group.  I decided to try taking 3D photos of them and this is what I ended up with.

PLEASE NOTE:  The 3D equipment I have is designed for daylight (or high light) situations only.  Inside shots can be taken with extreme settings but that tends to distort colour.  As a result these photos are not the best but it definitely does give the feel and mood of this great band.

Presenting:  Cokery Road

Corkery Road is a four-piece Celtic band that specializes in high-energy, infectious,
traditional music. With a repertoire ranging from familiar pub songs to wild
and dramatic historic tales, Corkery Road offers music that is sure to please
even the most diverse audience.

Slip back in time through melodies that shaped our heritage. Hear the voices of the
far-flung Celtic peoples who shaped this land, from Newfoundland to the Ottawa
Valley. Listen to stories of whaling, logging, emigration, pining for home, and having
a good time in the midst of hardships.

An evening with the band is certain to leave you changed.
You’ll feel up-lifted by the rhythms and melodies, energized by the beat,
and roused and haunted by the voices of our singers.

Find out more about this band by visiting their web site: http://www.corkeryroad.ca/

Members: Gordon Manuel    - Accordion
John Fife              - Fiddle, Guitar, Vocals
                Jennifer Hoy         - Bodhran, Vocals
Charlie Dunlap     - Guitar, Mandolin, Whistle

I was able to use my built-in flash on the camera for the above photos however, wanting to give you a flavour of this band I took a 3D video.  Not beeing a good boyscout, I was not prepared, thus did not have the required lighting for good quality video.  While you can see the group this video is posted so you can get a feel for their great sound, and the sounds of their appreciative audience last night.

If you ever get the chance to see this group I strongly suggest you do so.  They provide a fun, lively and energetic evening of entertainment.

Next post... My photos of Almonte.
