First Morning in LA

We flew Delta, through Detroit to Los Angeles.  For me there is little more beautiful than viewing clouds from above them.

With the ship departing on Wednesday Feb 1st, we decided to travel to LA on Sunday Jan. 29th and use the extra time to travel around and see some of the sights.  We stayed at the Sunrise Hotel located directly across the street from the parking lot for the Cruise Ship Terminal.

We found the hotel to be perfectly acceptable for what we required and the price was fantastic (79.00 per night).

Monday morning we woke up as though we were still at home, with the time difference we mannaged to be up at 5:00 am.  So I decided to exit the hotel, cross the street and watch the Golden Princess sail up the Harbour and dock at her berth.  She passed right in front of me, what a sight.

Once it opened we visited the car rental outlet and rented a car for 2 days.  Once this was all in order we departed the hotel for a tour along the sea side.

From San Pedro we drove west until we hit the coast where we followed the coastline to Redondo Beach.  Here is a google map of the route we followed, including the route South again to visit the Queen Mary (next Post).

And now some of the photos taken during this drive.

After all this adventure we needed some refreshments so we stopped at Fisherman's Wharf for lunch.  Prior to our trip we had heard that this was not that great a place to visit but we found it very pleasant and are happy we went.

Next post we will be re-visiting the afternoon activities.  We depart the Redondo Beach Area and drive to the Queen Mary.  As you know, she is perminantly bearthed in Long Beach CA.

Golden Princess Cruise to Hawaii

Welcome to my review of Golden Princess February 01-15 2012 to Hawaii

During this review I hope to cover the following:

Our two days before the cruise in Los Angeles;

The Ship;

The entertainment on board;

and, Our ports of call in Hawaii.

Starting with my next post, due to the fact I can only post a limited number of photos on each post on Cruise Critic, I will be posting the same words on my blog but each entry will have many many more photos associated with it. So if you haven't seen enough you can just select the link in my signature and you will see all the remainding photos associated with the post.

I do hope you enjoy this and if you have any questions I will do what I can to respond. Later in this review I will dedicate one post to the friends I met on board who requested I take a photo of them in 3D. Should they wish a copy all they need do is contact me and I will see you get a copy of the file so you can print it and enjoy it.

Each 3D photo takes about 15 mins to prepare so my next post will be as soon as I can prepare the photos associated with it. I hope it will be soon.

Our Grandson Chase ... Here is Nanny and Papa's Snow!

Our Grandson Chase, who lives in the Tropics of Canada, seems to think winter is over just because there is no snow where he lives.

Well Chase, Nanny and Papa have just shoveled all the new snow that just fell on us from last night.  Here are pictures of our neighbourhood so you can see our snow.  If you were here the snow would be over your head.

So tell Mommy to get out those funny glasses so you can see the pictures.

From looking out our livingroom window:

and ... Here is Nanny outside in the Snow:

Nanny and Papa hope you enjoy these photos and we will save some of the snow until you come and visit.

A Cold Walk With The Dog

Today was one of the coldest days so far this winter, wind blowing and snow drifting made for a rough experience.

Here are a few photos from the walk.

Days like this really make me anxious for our cruise to Hawaii coming up on February 1st, 2012.

My Wife's Santa Shelf

Each Christmas, among the many other things she does, my Wife hangs and decorates a santa shelf.  She has been collecting these santas over the years and now has a display worthy of note.

Here are a few photos of how it turned out this year.

And... No Christmas post would be complete without a photo of our Christams Tree.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
