Caribbean Princess (June 2009)

We booked Caribbean Princess (New York - Caribbean - New York 10 days) as a celebration of our victory over Cancer.  I was diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate Cancer the year before and faced surgery in February 2009.

During my recouperation period I spent many hours in bed with little else to do other than play with my photo editing programs and visit CruiseCritic to talk about our upcoming cruise.

It was during this time that I created my first computer "wallpaper" based on our upcoming cruise.  It was a way I found to channel my excitement (and kill time confined to bed).

One thing that I noticed, during this time, was that there were many photos available for the different types of staterooms but few photos of the public areas.  Because of this I designed an interactive program where you could select a deck on Caribbean Princess, then hover over a highlighted (yellow shade) area and view that room, either with a photo or a panorama.  Once we cruised on the ship I was able to complete this project and here it is below: WARNING: This is a VERY LARGE file and will take time to load.

The other thing I did, was to create a mosaic of our trip.  In creating this photo, I used every picture we took during our voyage and they, together, make up the bigger photo.  The first photo is the mosaic and the second in a close-up of the mosaic so you can see the individual photos.

OK!!! That was fun but I call this 3D Cruiser and tomorrow back to the 3D photos.  These will be fun to view as you, hopefully, get a flavour of being on a cruise ship.
